How to role-play

Role-playing can add so much spice to your regular old routine. At Yvonne Arie we see a lot of clients who are intrigued by the idea of role-playing, but worried about looking awkward. No worries though. Because when you have a gameplay, you won't feel funny when you start at all. So....

“ Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to role-play.“

Choose your fantasy

If you haven’t had that talk all ready, start by discussing what you’re both into. And pick the characters you’re both playing. If you’re new to role-playing, start with something simple and easy. Pick scenarios that you’re already familiar with. This will give you an idea of what to say and how to act while you’re at it.

Talk about what you want

If you feel shy about initiating this conversation, just remember that everybody has his or her very own secret fantasies. They probably feel just as insecure about it as you do. So work up the courage and bring it up anyway. Be clear and don’t forget to describe what you would like to have done to you or what you would like to do to the person you’re role-playing with. Just trust us... This part is also foreplay kind of fun.

Set your limits

With anything in the bedroom, it’s important to discuss your limits. Especially when it comes to role-playing. People are more likely to get carried away in the excitement of it all. Do it before you even start. It will save you from awkward situations during your role-playing sesh. Also pick a safeword, and agree that you’ll stop immediately if either of you says that word. Make sure to pick a word that you wouldn’t ever say during the role-play.

Above all, don’t forget to have fun through all the above.

Because talking about your fantasies can be just as sexy as the fantasy itself.

Plan and and get props?

Once you’ve picked something to try out, it’s time to talk about the how. Role-playing is great in that it can be as simple or as complex as you’d like it to be. You can role-play with just words, or with complete costumes and props. Don’t start with a big production when you’re new to role-playing. Test the waters first. See if you like it and how far you're willing to take this. Easing your way into it all so prevents you from wasting money on props if it turns out it’s not really your thing.

Playing the Role

It’s natural to feel insecure about what to say or do in the heat of the moment. Or to worry that you’ll act awkward while you’re role-playing. Try to remember that you’re just playing. It’s all about having fun. So don’t put too much pressure on yourself. If you say something silly, just laugh together and carry on. Acknowledging awkwardness is a lot easier than trying to pretend nothing happened.
